Fight The Power…Oppose The Towers!
pse&gs proposed Susquehanna-Roseland project, with its new towers rising 195 feet into the air carrying both 230kv and 500kv lines, threatens to degrade the New Jersey Highlands, destroy scenic vistas, increase the electromagnetic field in the vicinity of the lines, decrease property values, and adversely affect tourism. pse&gs proposed project is in direct conflict with New Jerseys Energy Master Plan. The majority of the energy that would flow through those wires would be coal-generated, and is a slap in the face to the efforts that our state has made in reducing green house gas emissions, working toward cleaner air, growing renewable sources of energy, promoting conservation, and funding energy efficiency programs. Solar, wind, geothermal, natural gas peaker plants, and other locally generated energy sources are a much better solution to New Jerseys energy needs than a long distance extension cord to coal-fired plants to our west. Implementation of demand side management programs will help control peak demand. This is the wrong energy project for New Jersey at the wrong time. Demand has been dropping for over two years—in part due to the programs that New Jersey has implement through its Energy Master Plan.
