Dear sir / madam,
thank you very much for your comments. Please be adviced that this is a general description of the concept. A lot of info on different arrangement of the concept has been catered for on the patent specifications. I will take my time to reply to each of your comment in a bit more detailed description.
Once again, thank your for your comments.
Its my pleasure.
5. since generator is small, sealing it would be relatively simple.
6. storm survival characteristic would be excellent (depending on the pole strength and anchoring)
3. a single unit would produce only a small amount of energy. an array of these could be simply aggregated by rectifying, boosting and combining their outputs. only a single power cable connected them to the shore facilities.
4. it will automatically adjust for the varying ocean level. no spring to restrain it on the high tide position.
energy is harnessed both on up and down movement. if unidirectional movement is desired, a simple rectifying gear system would allow to do so.
the pole will constrain the float movement to vertical only.
my considerations with design are:
1. can be implemented with cheap materials such as bamboo pole and used tire float.
2. no lengthy steel cables connecting floats to the shore facilities.
there is a problem with your scheme.
if your float is free to move horizontally, it will do so instead of moving entirely up-down.
that means, it efficiency would be low.
what i’ve imagined instead like this:
simple pole, planted firmly on the ocean floor. on the top is a sealed generator. a float is attached to a rope loop (or chain loop) connecting the generator on the top and a pully submerged on the bottom. the float weight is sufficient to provide downward force…
